Find In Store: Walmart.ca
Stock check on aisle three
One of the largest strategic initiatives for Walmart.ca was launching our Find in Store service, which allowed users to check the price of a product and whether it was in stock at their local store.
Pricing was a particular challenge since online and in-store prices could differ based on how managers decided to price individual items. For example, if the Target across the street was selling something for $3.39, a manager might price cut to $3.29, whereas online Walmart.ca might be selling it for $3.31.
Ultimately the team decided to use the pattern established in the US launch of this service, but pushback from customers globally led Walmart to change their strategy and move to consistent online and in-store pricing.
